Weekendcore: Paramore – “Misery Business”

Well…the adorable woman is back on the market, so…there’s that?

After about a decade together and 1 1/2 years of marriage, New Found Glory’s Chad Gilbert and Paramore’s Hayley Williams are breaking up.  Only they really know why, but there are the cheating stories on his part.  So…here’s a song by one of their bands – with fairly appropriate subject matter!

“Misery Business” appears on Paramore’s 2007 sophomore album Riot!.  The verses have blistering vocals both in subject matter and delivery, with the rest of the song streamlining musically while maintaining frantic.  Overall, it’s basically as aggressive as pure pop-punk gets.  Remember that Paramore?  (Change is fine and good, really.  Things are fine.)

Some who’ve listened to Paramore’s latest album After Laughter say it makes more sense now that Williams and Gilbert are done.  Honestly, this is a pretty rough time for them and it’s ultimately between them.  We can speculate and this and that, but perhaps the best use of our time is just to remember a kickass tune and let them deal with their misery business.
