Weekendcore: The Story So Far – “Empty Space”

Sometimes I am reminded by my fiancée that I can even enjoy the simplicity of using my iPhone’s Bluetooth to listen to music in the car.  This week that happened, and I rocked a bunch of The Story So Far (which led to JOKES YO).  That said, let’s rock ’em here too for “Weekendcore” shall we?

2016 TPS Awards

There are exactly two weeks left in 2016 as of today.  All kinds of year-end lists are coming out (“Liner Notes” even did an edition just for them), and TPS should be no different huh?  Well, that said, how about the inaugural TPS Awards!  Some categories will become annual, some will be unique to the year, all will be well deserved.  Now, let’s reveal this year’s winners!

Imagining a Thanksgiving compilation album

US Thanksgiving is on Thursday, and there really aren’t many songs about the holiday – alternative or otherwise.  I couldn’t think of any off the top of my head, and a search featured lists that just had songs about being thankful and all that.  But, what if there were a decent amount of Thanksgiving songs?  What might that be like?

Trying to make a massive list of your favourite artists (aka whoché do you amoré?)

I had the same reaction Jordan!

My girlfriend and a co-worker of hers got to talking about favourite artists today, and he asked her to have me make a list of my 20 favourites.  20!  (!)  He’s a big rock guy too but assumes our tastes are pretty different, but beyond not knowing why he feels that way I was like “20!?”.  On the surface that seems easy, but when you really get down to it it’s kinda daunting.

Scenematography: The Story So Far – “Nerve”

Earlier today Red Bull premiered The Story So Far’s new video for “Nerve”.  Back when the band’s 2015 self-titled third album was being teased it was the first song released, but for video purposes it follows up “Heavy Gloom”.  Like that song, “Nerve” is one of the album’s best and a good choice for a video (you know, how these things usually work).

Liner Notes: Wednesday, September 7th

Logo - Liner Notes
You know who have themselves a solid debut single?  UK indie poppers The Society.  “Begging” is out September 16th, and is a nicely catchy jam that actually inspired this Instagram post.  (I should add that I meant the post in general, not specifically referencing The Society – but more songs like “Begging” and they’ll be one of my new faves ya dig?)

Mashup Thoughts: Friday, August 12th

Logo - Mashup Thoughts
Back-to-back new feature logo debuts!  $?%&#$@-…well, actually in this logo’s case not anymore!

When you wanna theme it up but there’s just nothing there.

If you’re a fan of Major League Baseball you know tonight is New York Yankees third baseman DH benchwarmer Alex Rodriguez’s final game.  The Yanks are booting the controversial legend because he’s old and bad now, but, despite the admitted steroid use and general dinkness, he’s one of the best players ever.  I was thinking about doing something with New York and Miami artists (his current team and hometown), but I couldn’t come up with anything.  So…there’s your behind-the-scenes look at the TPS cutting room floor!  Godspeed A-Rod, go listen to Nothing Gold Can Stay or something.

Pop-punk whoopie pie party

Earlier today I made pizza whoopie pies, which are – besides maybe lemon meringue pie – the very best dessert treat.  I decided to throw on some pop-punk while doing so, and eventually I thought “why not expand on the tweet about it with a post?”.  Seems legit.

Track Listing: Stanley Cup Soundtrack

Logo - Track Listing
Tonight is Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final between the San Jose Sharks and Pittsburgh Penguins.  In honour of that, it’s time for a “Track Listing” that pits (Pitts?) the two markets against each other – well, not really “against” but it’ll be Bay Area and Pittsburgh artists on display so yeah!
