Who are the 2017 Chicago Cubs of alternative? I…just don’t know.
I’m watching the Cubs on TV, and was trying to think of which artist compares to them. Our previous sports-related comparison came when we determined Twenty One Pilots are the Golden State Warriors, and frankly that was much easier. For the longest time the Cubbies were baseball’s loveable losers, but then last year they won their first World Series in 108 years. This year they’re massively underachieving, and so I started to ponder who has a similar timeline in music – and came up with this picture: (!)
If this had been a full post, that would’ve been the main pic. Alas, here we are because I can’t come up with an artist that spent a long time being beloved but unsuccessful, then topping the world, and now not so much. Really, it’s hard to quantify that in music because you don’t get the concrete win-loss and other stats like in sports. You could use album sales, but even then…underground bands are never tearing those up. Meh, I don’t know. Do you?
Today is my relationship’s fifth anniversary, and first since we got engaged. Do we need a song for the occasion???? How about THIS spoof picture at least:
Gol-*tossed out like Jazz by Uncle Phil* My lady is indeed my majesty (wooo) so…there’s that. Remember The Anniversary? Well, Josh Berwanger is now in Radar State with Matt Pryor and Jim Suptic of The Get Up Kids so that’s cool at least.
You got potential main pictures in this edition of “Mashup Thoughts”! Evolution!!!…???…
